Born on July 6, 1972, in Sainte-Félicité, Isabelle Boulay is an international star. Winner of 19 Félix Awards and 2 Victoires de la Musique, she shares with Céline Dion the record for the Quebec female artist who has won the prestigious Female Performer of the Year Félix Award the most times, with seven victories.

Her journey began in the 1990s when she won three performance awards in renowned singing competitions: the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée and the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. These honours led to contracts for the television series Alys Robi and the musical Starmania. In 1996, she released Fallait pas, her first album. Her second album, États d’amour, brought her widespread recognition and success, selling more than 240,000 copies in Quebec. Then came Mieux qu’ici-bas, which marked her consecration as a major artist. She joined the select group of Francophone artists to sell more than one million copies of a single album.

Throughout her career, Isabelle Boulay has released 13 albums, selling more than 4.5 million copies worldwide. She is one of the few Francophone artists to have performed with legendary artists such as Gilbert Bécaud, Charles Aznavour, Serge Lama, Francis Cabrel, Serge Reggiani, Kenny Rogers, and Dolly Parton. Her greatest hits are known to all, including Je t’oublierai, je t’oublierai, La lune, Parle-moi, Jamais assez loin, Depuis le premier jour, Entre Matane et Bâton Rouge, and many others, including the duet with Johnny Hallyday, Tout au bout de nos peines, which remained on the French Top Singles chart for 21 weeks. Millions of spectators have applauded her performances, from Montreal’s Place des Arts to the prestigious Olympia Hall and the magnificent Amphitheatre of Carthage.

More recently, Isabelle Boulay received the honours of Chevalier of the Ordre de la Pléiade and Knight of the Ordre national du Québec in recognition of her outstanding body of work.

She also served as a coach on seasons 2 and 3 of the popular television show La Voix.

In spring 2014, she released Merci Serge Reggiani, a tribute to the man with whom she once shared the stage and who remains a profound source of inspiration for her. Produced by Philippe B and her longtime collaborator Benjamin Biolay, the album sold more than 50,000 copies in Quebec and over 200,000 in Europe.

Isabelle Boulay also began 2017 strongly. For a third season, she returned to her coveted coaching chair on La Voix. In addition, surrounded by some of the industry’s top songwriters, composers, and producers, she released in March, under Sony Music France, a new album of original songs entitled En vérité, produced by renowned artists Benjamin Biolay and Raphaël. The photographs for this album were taken by the legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh.

In 2023, Isabelle Boulay released the bold project Les chevaux du plaisir (Boulay chante Bashung), an album in which she intelligently and humbly reinterprets the songs of Alain Bashung.
