Admitted to the Conservatoire de musique de Montr\u00e9al in 1983, \u00c9ric Levasseur continued his college and university studies in Rapha\u00ebl Masella’s clarinet class and received awards in clarinet and chamber music, among others. He perfected ensemble music at the Orchestre R\u00e9seau des Conservatoires de Musique du Qu\u00e9bec, where he was chosen three times as clarinetist, played under the direction of such prestigious conductors as Franz Paul Decker and Raffi Armenian, and performed on some of the biggest national and U.S. stages.<\/p>
In 1988, upon entering Coll\u00e8ge Notre-Dame as a clarinet teacher, \u00c9ric Levasseur met his first successes in provincial competitions as conductor of a wind orchestra.<\/p>
In 1993, he joined the Joseph-Fran\u00e7ois-Perrault school team where he founded the Harmonie Option JFP. Starting in the fall of 2009, he took the helm of the JFP wind orchestra, and since 2011 he has directed the JFP Symphony Orchestra while holding the position of director of the music department.<\/p>
In 1998, he founded the Symphonie des Vents de Montr\u00e9al, a senior wind orchestra of which he continues to be musical director. In 1999 and 2009, he was invited to conduct the Harmonie \u00c9lite of the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des Harmonies du Qu\u00e9bec, as associate conductor.
